Before and After Images
The Interview with Rey Benasfre
We interviewed him to find out he uses the Visual Flow Preset System to help get his images closer to a more polished and refined place while still retaining and showcasing every bit of detail and color in the scene. Below you’ll see examples of his RAW straight out of camera images and how they look with the Visual Flow Crush Pack presets applied.
How did you establish and define your editing style?
“Cinematic.”
How long do you typically spend editing a single image?
“It depends. Most images edited within Lightroom take me about 5 minutes, longer if I have to bring it into photoshop. With my big creative edits, I’ve spent a minimum of 30 minutes to 2 hours max after bringing the image into Photoshop.”
How has the Visual Flow Preset system changed your workflow?
“The Visual Flow Preset system has dramatically sped my workflow up by bringing my images closer to where I needed in a single click. This is because of the Lighting Condition-Based system. With other presets I would still spend a good amount of time tweaking the image and trying to correct skin tones. The Retouching Toolkit also helps me do things that I used to do in Photoshop such as skin retouching or dodging and burning. Because of this new system, my editing time has sped up to 1-3 minutes per image and I don’t have to go into Photoshop as much. My favorite packs are Modern and Crush!”
Where do you draw your editing inspiration from?
“I draw much of my inspiration from movies and classic art.”
What advice would you give someone wanting to learn how to edit in Lightroom?
“Learn from different people! There are many different ways of doing things and everyone has their own way that may or may not work for you. I am constantly learning from other photographers no matter their skill level. I’ve learned from seasoned photographers and have seen them do things the long hard way. On the other hand, I’ve had new photographers show me shortcuts I never knew about.”
