How long have you been a photographer? What got you started?
I’ve been a full time photographer for 12 years. I started my career in finance and management consulting, and I was miserable. I took the biggest risk of my life and quit a stable career to pursue a passion. I started in wedding photographer (www.nicolechanphotography.com) and have now bridged over to a commercial/advertising as well (www.nicoleloeb.com).
What is the best part about being a photographer?
The freedom of time, the creativity, and the joy of being able to be part of a family’s visual legacy.
What are your sources of photography inspiration?
Daily life – friends, family, cool experiences, theater, travel. Everything involved with IRL.
What do you think your keys to success are in this industry?
Determination. Resilience. Resourcefulness. Constant education.
What advice would you give someone wanting to learn how to edit in Lightroom?
Dedicate time to watching YouTube, specifically the ones with the shortcuts. Dive in. Live it. Breathe it.
